Hi Cass, I came by to see your blog, and what a lovely blog it is! I LOVE your old house (I always wanted an old house myself.) Also, thanks for visiting me, AND for adding me to your favorites list! I always enjoy meeting new people and visiting their blogs...I'll add you to my favorites list too! Come on by anytime! xxxooo Marilyn
Hi Cass, The primer was oil based, but the paint is water based. We sand alot, prime, sand more, prime, sand more, prime ...until we can't see the oak grain. We have also skimmed a wood putty over the middle flat saction of the cabinet doors to cover the grain. Of course after that you would have to sand & prime & paint. Hope that helps! It does make a huge difference by painting the cabinets! Takes them from outdated to awesome!
I love, love, love your home.---But then I have always had a thing for old houses. They are money pits but they have such character! Thanks for stopping by to see my blog today!
I couldn't resist dropping by, when I saw you lived in Rockaway. I had an Aunt living in Rockaway Beach, when I was a little girl. We visited her often and have wonderful memories of those times.
So....your a dishaholic, so sorry, :( hope you recover soon. ;) I'm afraid I never have.
Hope your house blessing goes well, it was something the Priests don't seem to do down here. I'll send Mother Nature a memo about the weather. ;)
I'm so pleased to meet you. I'm so glad you came for a visit so I could find your wonderful blog. I hope you're dug out by now.. even with snow the stone steps are beautiful.. hugs ~lynne~
I was over at Marty's blog and thought I would pay you a visit too....I do really like old homes too....it's so cozy and inviting! Blessings to you and your home. Luanne
That Old House is my other blog, which chronicles the decoration and (slow!) renovation of our 1830s house in New Jersey, along with bits and pieces of our lives within its walls. Click here to visit.
Who am I? That depends -- I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and volunteer. A lover of books & old houses & all that go with them -- also of fabrics, yarns, cut flowers, tart juicy apples, fresh empty notebooks (oh the possibilities!), salt water, dogs, and babies. I have been married to patient Howard for 41 years. Wow. Time flies when you're having fun!
