Hey! Who Stole The Driveway?

The original post in this blog, "A House Blessing Party," should be read first.

Below, a picture of the front of our house, taken eons ago by the previous owner. Why I haven't taken my own pictures of our house, I have no idea. Goes on my "to do" list.

But this is what you will see from West Main Street -- the front of the house, 200-feet of yard, and ... no driveway. If you pass the house and it is on your right, go to the next side street (Lindberg Lane) and turn right and just keep making right turns till you come to a cul-de-sac. We are at the end of that little circle, driveway slopes down toward the back of the house. (All the other driveways nearby slope up.)

(This is the back of the house, on the left. On the right is the driveway, which is above the house. My minivan is in the driveway, at the end nearest the house. The other end is at the circle.)

If the house is on your left as you pass it on West Main Street . . . you have gone too far. Turn around, and follow the directions above.

Just so you know -- Lindberg Lane is a STEEP turn off West Main. If you are squeamish about pointing your car's hood heavenward, then go one more street to Swede Mine Road, turn right, and again make your first 2 right turns till you come to Lindberg Lane (the other end of it) and then take a left off Lindberg onto Glenview Place, which is our cul-de-sac.

You can park in the driveway, in the circle, on Glenview, or -- if by chance there are too many cars on the street -- up the hill in the high school parking lot.

A House Blessing Party

In March, it will be a year since we bought our new old house in Rockaway, New Jersey.

In celebration of our delight in this old house, and in celebration of what progress we've made toward our goals (although the house is still very much a work in progress), we are inviting our family and friends to an Open House Party and House Blessing.

When? Saturday March 14, 2009.
Open House from 4:00 in the afternoon until the last guest leaves.
House Blessing at 5:00, by the Rev. Mark Rossman, ably assisted by a fresh pine bough and a bowl of water.

In the true spirit of an Open House, please come and go as you wish. You don't even need to Rsvp (unless you want to!). Whenever you arrive we will be glad to see you, and whenever you leave we will be sad to see you go.

I'll post directions here, later (which are akin to clues, as it can be a bit of a mystery to find us, despite our being on a main road). Don't trust your GPS; it will find the house, but it won't find the driveway or parking.

There are trains and buses to Rockaway & environs; we can pick up and drop off.
